3-D Secure (3DS)

3-D Secure is a data exchange protocol used tosharea high volume of key transactional information between digital merchants, payment networks andfinancial institutions,expediting the authentication process. The higher volume of transaction data, such as device channel information and payment history, allows issuers to authenticate consumers in a real-time, secure manner.3-D Secure providerscan assess transactional risk and only require an additional verification method such as a password from the consumer if the transaction is considered risky.The 3-D Secure 2.0 version reduces transaction times by 85% and reduces customer drop-off by as much as 70%, according to Visa data.
